We did it!! I spoke with our coordinator on Monday and she said that we are able to switch our venue to the larger one! This is a huge stress relief and I don’t feel like I have to cut my guest list even more! I also set up my appointment to meet with the coordinator where we will go over all the details of the wedding! It’s going by so quickly! I honestly am having a difficult time waiting…I wish I knew how to speed up time even more. That’s pretty much it for now. I’ll post more when things start happening! =]
We are now into the 90′s! 98 days, as of today, and it feels so good! Tristan and I had the taste testing last night at another reception site by the same company. The food was great and now we are trying to decide between chicken and beef haha. The venue we were at last night is HUGE and has ample room for a lot of people. Tristan and I were discussing it and now we are thinking, if it’s possible, that we are going to switch the reception venue to this new site. We called and found that the site is available for our date, now we are just waiting on our coordinator to call us back and let us know if we can switch! Tristan and I have been stressing over our original reception venue, there is a wall that is supposed to be removed to add more space for everyone, but now (almost a year later and 3 months before the wedding) the wall is not going to be taken down because of zoning issues. With this new venue we can fit 150 people and have room for everyone to walk around and have plenty of room to dance! The new site is also only a couple miles away from the ceremony site. So please pray that this works out for us and there’s little to no cost to switch. This would mean that I don’t have to secretly keep cutting the guest list and hiding it from my mother!
Wow, Times certainly flies. We are now less than 4 months from our wedding date. Things are starting to take shape (no thanks to me).
Wedding Band Fiasco:
We went to at least a dozen jewelers and looked at hundreds of rings. After much discussion as to what Kjersten wanted in a ring, we finally decided to go with blue sapphire bands. It’s a little unorthodox, but it looks like it will work out nicely. A lot of the diamond bands we looked at they either were not noticeable or overpowered her engagement ring. With the sapphire we don’t have to worry about that. It draws attention to the ring but also directs attention to the main setting. The bands are being custom-made so we don’t have any pictures to post yet. Now I just need to find a band for me.
Invitations:
Kjersten got together with her mom last week and hammered out the details of the invitations. All I’ve seen is drawings of the concept, but I’m sure the final product will look great. We’re still trying to finalize our guest list and collect addresses so if you haven’t registered on our RSVP page please do that as soon as you can. If you need the password Please contact either of us.
Premarital Counseling:
We’ve finally set up a time and date to begin our premarital counseling. Our first session with Pastor Seth is on May 4th at 10am.
Reception Details:
Our menu tasting date has been set for May 6th. Currently we are trying to decide between sliced roast beef and roast chicken. Kjersten & I also need to start working on a list of songs we want played at our wedding. Our primary concern is what we want to be played during the ceremony, but we also need songs for the grand entrance, first dance, etc. Suggestions are encouraged and appreciated.
Groom’s Men Attire:
I think I’ve found a suit I like, but I haven’t had a chance to try it on yet. I’ve decided to go with suits instead of tuxes because for the same price as a tux rental you can buy a suit. I’d much rather my groomsmen have something they can keep and possibly reuse. Also, I think the suit looks better.

Final Comments:
We’ve started to look for housing. If anyone know if any backhouses for rent in or around Orange please let us know.
Kjersten’s Sister Becca took our engagement photos a few weeks ago. As soon as they are all edited a few will be posted in the photos section.
I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot, but I’ll have Kjersten fill in the gaps when she gets a chance.

Our wedding venue had an open house on Sunday. I took the opportunity to capture a few quick 360 panorama views of the venue. I would have gotten some outside shots, but it was raining.
The first one is of our Ceremony site:

While the reception site looks small, there is also an outside garden area that we will be utilizing. I’ll try to get some pictures of that when the weather permits.
We also did some cake testing and have narrowed it down to 2 options: White Cake with Mocha Chip filling, and Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Filling. If we can, we may end up dividing up the tiers half and half.
